Welcome to Kay's K9s - Needle Felted Dogs & Cats

Custom Needle Felted Dogs and Cats

Handmade miniature animals created by Artist K. Stahler. Each sculpture is created from wool by a technique known as Needle Felting. I love to do custom orders from photographs of customers' pets! I am able to work from these photographs to create a miniature version of each animal.

Needle Felted Jack Russell Terrier

Each creation is an original One of a Kind (OOAK) work of art. No patterns or molds are used in their creation, ensuring that each miniature animal is absolutely unique. I can create my animals as tiny as 1:12 dollhouse scale, or larger if you prefer (up to 4" in size)! I focus on making needle felted dogs and cats, but also create other animals & work in other mediums on occasion.

Needle Felted Chihuahua Dog

I strive to make each miniature as realistic and detailed as possible. Although my passion is to create miniatures in 1:12 Doll House scale, I also work in larger scales by request.  Needle felting is a very time consuming process. Each creation takes hours upon hours to achieve the high standard of quality I have. For those who cannot afford a custom felted sculpture of their dogs or cats, I also offer alternate options which are more affordable.

* A portion of all proceeds will be donated to the Ontario SPCA and local animal shelters. I also sponsor shelter dogs. For a picture of the current shelter dog I am sponsoring, please visit my Blog. *

Needle Felting

Simply put, needle felting is the process of taking raw wool roving and using a barbed felting needle to sculpt it into shape. The sculpting is done by poking the wool thousands of times until the fibers interlock and felt together. This process is extremely time consuming, and each dog or cat normally takes 15 - 30 hours to create.

If you are interested in ordering a miniature needle felted version of your own pet off of photos you provide, please visit the "Orders" page for more information. For more information on the Needle Felting process, please visit the "Technique" page. I hope you enjoy your look around, and feel free to contact me with any questions you may have!
